10th Poodle National

How many
dogs were entered this year?
A record number of 221 poodles were entered in the
conformation show (51 were miniatures, 73 were standards, and 97 were toys) and
25 in the obedience competition.
Details of
the event
The 10th annual National Poodle Specialty show was held on
Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th of March 2011 at the Victorian State Dog Centre,
KCC Park, Skye. The event is the most prestigious show in the Australian poodle
exhibitors’ calendar and is held every 2 years in one of the major state
capitals. Held in Melbourne this year, a world famous poodle judge from the
United States was officiating in the conformation show - Mr Luis E Aizcorbe
from the world famous Aizbel miniature poodles. The event also included an obedience trial competition and an exhibition
of poodle ‘doggy dancing’ aka canine freestyle.

Over 120 exhibitors and at least another 100 visitors
attended, including poodle lovers from New Zealand, Asia, and the United States

Best of Breed Standard Poodle and
Best in Show winner
Multi BIS/SBIS Grand Ch Remkyn Dont Call Me
Crazy, aka “Llewis” was judged best standard poodle from among 73 standard
poodles and Best in Show from among 221 poodles in total.
Ironically “Llewis” had the same first name as the judge Luis although spelt
differently. He is a four year old black dog bred in Australia; the son of Swed/Dan/Aust
Ch Lycos Crazy In Love (imp Swe) out of a locally bred bitch Ch Remkyn Kiss
This. Llewis is a wonderful show dog and a real Character (who loves jumping up
into his owner’s arms after he wins!), a true poodle in every sense of the
word. He has produced several Australian and International champions, as well
as a number of stylish, up and coming youngsters. Proudly owned and bred by
Margie Nottle-Justice of Remkyn poodles, Callington, South Australia.

Poodle and Runner Up Best In Show winner
Ch Artizan Vanity Fair aka “Willow”, another
locally bred bitch who has the same father as the BIS winner. “Willow” is the
very first born Baby to the “Artizan” Prefix from the beautiful Grand Champion
Retsae Espirit de Lune who has been one of the most successful Standard Poodles
in Australia for the past 10 years....and her owner’s first Poodle. “Willow”
has the sweetest disposition and will happily go in the ring with our young
Junior Handlers to let them have the experience of handling a dog different to
one they would normally. “Willow” loves to play, and would fetch a ball for as
long as you would throw it but just as happy to climb up on the lounge for lots
of cuddle time. She has had a fantastic show career so far, from just a baby,
and excelled under Poodle Specialists. A Best in Show winner, she has been No1
Standard Poodle Australia Best of Breeds winner for the past 2 years (DOLPS) at
only 3 years herself. She has had a string of wins at some of Australia’s most
Prestigious shows. A joy to own show and present. Proudly owned and bred by

Best of Breed Miniature poodle
Ch Kertellas Jenuin Trademark (Imp UK) aka
"William" proudly owned by Jenny Sculac and Alayne Hansen of Jenuin
poodles, Melbourne, Australia who was judged best of breed at the National in
an entry of 51 miniatures. "William" came to Australia after a wait
of approximately 8 years whilst Roger Bayliss of the famous Kertellas kennel
bred the right dog for his owner from the desired breeding of choice. He
combines the top Black Miniature breeding from so many of the top winning
Poodles in the world. "William" won his first Best In Show at just 9
months of age at The New South Wales Poodle Specialty he has since gone onto
win many Best In Shows/Groups and Best of Breeds at Royal Shows. He has easily
achieved the honour of being the Top Winning Miniature at Specialty Breed level
in Australia. According to his owner, “William” is one of the most stunning
Miniature Males she has ever seen anywhere in the world.
Best of Breed Toy Poodle

DAN & AUST CH Solnes Turkish Noel (Imp Denmark) aka “Noél” was judged best of breed
at the National in an entry of 97 Toy Poodles.
“Noél” is from one
of the worlds’ most famous Toy Poodle kennels 'SOLNES', breeder and exhibitor
Solvieg Naess. Since arriving in Australia, “Noél” has been shown sparingly, mainly to the fancies Top breeders
and Exhibitor Judges and has been rewarded with Best in Group and Best in Show
wins, and the Poodle National win under a noted specialist judge is no
exception. The National Judge Mr Azicorbe had previously awarded “Noél” a Puppy in Show award when “Noél” was in Denmark. “Noél” is everything a Toy Poodle
should be, and has left behind many lovely offspring that are doing extremely
well in the show rings of Europe, and is now producing some exciting youngsters
here in Australia. “Noél” is
lovingly owned by Stewart Budd and Roger Schipp of Sauvage Poodles, Sydney,
Australia.
